Rock of Ages film star Tom Cruise may join Grammy winner Beyonce in the upcoming remake of A Star is Born, according to Deadline.com. Cruise is in talks with director Clint Eastwood to see if his schedule will allow him to co-star in the film. No production dates have been set at this time, but Beyonce is expected to be able to film come June.
A Star is Born follows an aspiring singer whose career begins to rise while her famous boyfriend's own success crumbles under his alcoholism. Eastwood's version would mark the fourth film version of the story. The original 1937 movie starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. In 1954 George Cukor directed the first remake, starring Judy Garland and James Mason, which was followed by a 1976 update featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Cruise’s own star was born in the 1983 film Risky Business. Since that time, he has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards (Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia). His other films include Top Gun, the Mission Impossible series, Interview with a Vampire, Eyes Wide Shut and Rain Man. Cruise will play Stacee Jaxx in Adam Shankman’s big screen adaption of Broadway's Rock of Ages due out in theaters on June 15.
