Casting is complete for the upcoming repertory productions of Ragtime and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London. Artistic director Timothy Sheader (Shakespeare in the Park’s forthcoming Into the Woods) is set to direct Ragtime, running May 18 through September 8. Matthew Dunster will helm A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running June 2 through September 5.
Set at the turn of the century, Ragtime is the powerful story of three families, with a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Ragtime stars David Birrell as Father, Tamsin Carroll as Emma Goldman, Harry Hepple as Younger Brother, Stephane Anelli as Harry Houdini, Rolan Bell as Coalhouse Walker, Jr., Katie Brayben as Evelyn Nesbit, Rosalie Craig as Mother, Claudia Kariuki as Sarah, Joshua Lacey as Willie Conklin, John Marquez as Tateh, Carl Sanderson as Henry Ford and Jo Servi as Grandfather. The ensemble features Jamal Andreas, Mireia Mambo Bekele, Louise Bowden, Anthony Clegg, Hayley Gallivan, Shimi Goodman, Waylon Jacobs, Kurt Kansley, Sandra Marvin, Sophia Nomvete, Corinna Powlesland, Caroline Rovina, Lucy St Louis and Tom Woods.
Shakespeare’s classic play A Midsummer Night’s Dream stars Birrell as Theseus, Bell as Snug, Kingsley Ben Adir as Demetrius, Brayben as Hippolyta, Bowden as Philostrate, George Bukhari as Bottom, Carroll as Titania, Anthony Clegg as Egeus, Christopher Colquhoun as Oberon, Gallivan as Hermia, Hepple as Quince, Oliver Johnstone as Puck, Rebecca Oldfield as Helena and Tom Padley as Lysander. The ensemble also features Andreas, Anelli, Mambo Bekele, Goodman, Jacobs, Kansley, Lacey, Marvin, Nomvete, Rovina, Carl Sanderson and Servi.
