Rodgers & Hammerstein’s 1955 Broadway musical Pipe Dream will be recorded live at New York City Center’s Encores! series, to be released by Ghostlight Records this summer. The new revival of Pipe Dream stars Laura Osnes as Suzy, Will Chase as Doc, Leslie Uggams as Fauna, Tom Wopat as Mac and Stephen Wallem as Hazel.
Based on John Steinbeck’s novella Sweet Thursday, Pipe Dream is the story of a romance between Doc, a marine biologist, and Suzy, a woman who hitchhikes into town. The new recording will feature songs from the revival, including “All Kinds of People,” “All at Once You Love Her,” “The Man I Used to Be,” “Everybody’s Got a Home But Me,” “The Next Time It Happens,” “Sweet Thursday,” “A Lopsided Bus,” “The Party That We’re Gonna Have Tomorrow Night,” “Thinkin’” and more.
Pipe Dream features James Clow, Philip Hernández, James Moye, Steve Routman and Stephen Wallem, as well as Matthew Bauman, Jack Doyle, Lora Lee Gayer, James Harkness, Jessica Hershberg, Emily Hsu, Cara Kjellman, Denis Lambert, Analisa Leaming, Jay Lusteck, Linda Mugleston, Shannon M.
