The 26th annual Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction will set up shop on September 23 in Shubert Alley. Fans can enter the market from 10AM to 7PM. Proceeds from the event will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Each year at the Flea Market merchant tables sell a variety of theater memorabilia such as costume pieces, scripts, photographs and more. A Grand Auction also takes place in which guests bid on prizes that often include walk-on roles in hit Broadway shows. Other highlights include a silent auction as well as a celebrity table, where prominent Broadway stars greet autograph-hungry fans. Participating stars will be announced at a later date.
The inaugural edition of the event in 1987 raised $12,000. Last year’s Flea Market raised $547,658 for Broadway Cares. The 25 previous editions of the Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction have raised a grand total of $9,185,327.
