Daniel Sunjata joins the cast of 'Smash.'

Tony nominee Daniel Sunjata has joined the cast of Smash as a love interest for Julia (Debra Messing), according to EW.com. Sunjata will have a reccuring role when NBC's Broadway-themed series returns for its second season in 2013.

Cast members Brian d'Arcy James (who played Julia's husband) and Will Chase (Julia's former boyfriend) both departed the series after its first season ended. The show will also welcome new cast members Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and Krysta Rodriguez (The Addams Family).

Sunjata earned a Tony nomination for Take Me Out. He has also appeared on Broadway in Cyrano de Bergerac and Twelfth Night. Sunjata's TV credits include Rescue Me and Grey's Anatomy. He will also star in the upcoming TV series Graceland opposite Aaron Tveit.
