Karen Allen will star in the American premiere of Jon Fosse’s A Summer Day, translated and directed by Sarah Cameron Aselt. The Rattlestick Playwrights Theater production begins performances October 10 and will open October 25 at off-Broadway’s Cherry Lane Theatre. No further casting has been announced.
In A Summer Day, a visit to an old friend sparks the memory of a visit years earlier and the mysterious disappearance of a loved one. The play evokes the nostalgia of the end of an affair, capturing love both in the moment and as a distant memory.
Allen appeared on Broadway in Monday After the Miracle. Her off-Broadway credits include Extremities, The Miracle Worker, The Country Girl and Speaking in Tongues. Her film and TV credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Scrooged, Starman, Animal House, A Small Circle of Friends and Shoot the Moon.
