Despite the upcoming closing of popular Times Square music store Colony Record and Radio, a documentary about the Broadway-centric store title Manhattan Lullaby is still in the works, according to Gothamist.com. Filmmaker Sara Cross is allowing eight more weeks to complete the film about the Theater District landmark, though she worries financial troubles may impede the process.
“I am desperate to raise the real money we need to finish,” she told Gothamist. “I have been working on this film for four years and trying to shoot as many days as possible until they close. I basically have to raise 50k to finish shooting in the next 8 weeks.” Supporters of the film can contribute funds on Indiegogo.com.
Opened in 1948, the shop has served Broadway fans as an outlet providing sheet music, albums, posters and other show business memorabilia. Colony is located at 1619 Broadway in the legendary Brill Building.
