Tony winner Liza Minnelli will reprise her role as Lucille Austero when Netflix brings back the cult comedy Arrested Development, according to TV Guide. The series has begun production on a fourth season that will debut on Netflix in the spring of 2013.
Arrested Development follows an extremely eccentric and wealthy family who struggles to bond together as their father (and head of their real estate development company) is arrested. Minnelli served as the family's neighbor, who sparked an odd romance with the family's youngest son. The series ran for three seasons on FOX from 2003 to 2006 and earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The cast featured Broadway veterans Jessica Walter and Jeffrey Tambor as well as Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat. A movie is also expected to begin production after the show's fourth season.
Minnelli earned a Tony Award for The Act and Flora the Red Menace. She has also appeared on Broadway in Liza's at the Palace, Minnelli on Minnelli, Victor/Victoria and Chicago. She received an Oscar for the film adaptation of Cabaret.
