The Other Josh Cohen, a new musical featuring a book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, will play the SoHo Playhouse this fall. Ted Sperling will direct the show, which begins preview performances on October 10, with an official opening set for October 21. The production is scheduled to end its engagement on November 11.
The new comedy tells the story of Josh Cohen, a nice guy suffering from a string of bad luck. After a pre-Valentine’s Day break-up and an apartment robbery, Josh discovers a mysterious letter in his mailbox that promises to change his life forever.
Rossmer and Rosen will both play Josh, one playing him in the present day and the other a year earlier. Joining the duo are Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde) as “A Lot of People,” Vadim Feichtner (The Burnt Part Boys) as “A Bunch of People,” Hannah Elless (Godspell) as “A Bunch of Other People” and Ken Triwush (Titanic) as “The Rest of the People.” The show will feature musical direction by Feichtner and choreography by Andrew Palermo.
Rossmer most recently originated the role of Ted in the Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher. Rosen was a member of the original Broadway casts of Spamalot and The Farnsworth Invention, and appeared in the 2009 revival of Guys and Dolls. Both actors co-created the comedy improv variety show Don’t Quit Your Night Job as well as the game show People You Know are Aliens in New York.
