A special two-disc album commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Queen musical We Will Rock You, which has been playing on London’s West End since May 2002, will be released by EMI Records on October 15.
The redesigned and repackaged album will feature both the original London cast recording and a bonus 11-track CD featuring performances by Queen as well as other vocalists from international productions of the musical, including Australia, Spain and Germany. The new recording will also include a 20-page booklet detailing the creation of the musical.
After 10 years and almost 4,000 performances, We Will Rock You continues to rock London’s Dominion Theatre. With music and lyrics by Queen and a book and direction by Ben Elton, We Will Rock You is a jukebox musical about a young rebel named Galileo who tries to overtake a powerful corporation in a futuristic world. The London production originally opened on May 12, 2002, and features hit Queen songs including “We Are the Champions,” “Another One Bites the Dust” and “Somebody To Love.” The show begins a worldwide arena tour on March 27, 2013.
