Tony winner Richard Easton and Steven Boyer will star in The Explorers Club as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's 2012-13 season. Directed by Marc Bruni, the Nell Benjamin play will begin performances May 14, 2013 at off-Broadway's New York City Center-Stage 1. Opening night is set for June 4. Additional casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.
The Explorers Club is a comedy set in London in 1879. The prestigious Explorers Club faces the worst crisis in their history as their acting president wants to admit a woman. The female candidate is brilliant, beautiful and has discovered a legendary Lost City, but the decision to let in a woman could shake the very foundation of the British Empire.
Easton earned a Tony Award for The Invention of Love. He has also appeared on Broadway in The Coast of Utopia, Elling, The Rivals, Henry V and Noises Off. He can be seen in the upcoming comedy Golden Age. Boyer currently stars in Modern Terrorism and has appeared on Broadway in I'm Not Rappaport.
