The Culture Project’s 10th anniversary production of the The Exonerated will feature a lengthy list of celebrated stage stars in its rotating cast including Martin Short, Marg Helgenberger, Christine Lahti and more. A new cycle of cast member members begins on October 9 at 45 Bleeker Street.
From October 9 through 14, the cast will feature John Forte, Kathryn Grody, Richard Masur and Danton Stone. From October 16 through 21, those cast members will be replaced by Steve Earle, Joe Morton, Martin Short and Kerry Max Cook (whose own story is shared in the play). From October 23 through 28, cast members include Christine Lahti, Joe Morton and Frank Whaley. From October 30 through November 4, the final cast will feature Marg Helgenberger, Joe Morton and returning cast member Chris Sarandon.
The Exonerated is a dramatization of six real-life stories of individuals who were sentenced to death, but later exonerated upon the discovery of evidence proving their innocence. It utilizes interviews, letters, case files, court records and interview transcripts from death row.
Directed by Bob Balaban and written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, the play also features a non-rotating cast including Jim Bracchitta, Amelia Campbell, Bruce Kronenberg, Curtis McClarin, April Yvette Thompson and JD Williams.
The Exonerated began performances on September 15 and will end its limited engagement on November 4.
