Francine Volpe’s new drama The Good Mother is keeping audiences guessing at off-Broadway’s Acorn Theatre, featuring Boardwalk Empire star Gretchen Mol, Marc Blum, Darren Goldstein, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen. Helmed by artistic director Scott Elliott, the New Group production tells the story of Larissa (Mol), a single mother who is struggling to pay the rent on her home in suburban Mount Vernon, NY. When Larissa leaves her four-year-old daughter with a babysitter (Nelsen), a bizarre incident occurs, and Larissa must rely on three men to help her face her troubled past.
