'Bare' begins performances November 19.

The off-Broadway revival of Bare begins performances on November 19 at New World Stages. The musical revival is set to open December 9.

The angst-ridden rock opera has acquired a cult following in the decade since its world premiere in Los Angeles in 2001 and subsequent off-Broadway run in 2004. Set at a Catholic boarding school, the show follows the lives and tragedies of several students who struggle to find acceptance from themselves and others. The piece deals with issues such as homosexuality, drugs and faith.

Directed by Stafford Arima with choreography by Travis Wall, the new production stars Taylor Trensch as Peter, Jason Hite as Jason, Elizabeth Judd as Ivy, Gerard Canonico as Matt and Missi Pyle as Sister Joan.

Bare features music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics and book by Jon Hartmere with additional songs by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel.
