Laurie Metcalf is currently starring on Broadway as Juliana Smithton in The Other Place, but the Emmy winner and Tony nominee is well known for her roles as Jackie Harris on TV's Roseanne and, more recently, as Mary Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. Metcalf plays the devout Texan mother of Jim Parsons' Dr. Sheldon Cooper on the popular series. Parsons, being the good son he plays on TV, headed to Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on December 18 to support Metcalf and the rest of the cast of The Other Place, including Daniel Stern, Zoe Perry and John Schiappa. Parsons was joined backstage by his The Normal Heart co-stars John Benjamin Hickey and Joe Mantello, the director of The Other Place. Written by Sharr White, this puzzling and gripping drama is the story of a woman whose long-buried truths and dark secrets refuse to remain hidden. The Other Place officially opens on January 10, 2013, but click through now to see Metcalf, Mantello and their guests!
