Polly Findlay will helm David Auburn’s Pulitzer and Tony-winning drama Proof at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. The production will begin performances on March 13, with an official opening night on March 20. Proof will play a limited engagement through April 27. Casting has not yet been announced.
In Proof, Catherine has cared for her father Robert, a renowned mathematician, through his mental illness for the past five years. His ex-student, Hal, discovers a ground-breaking proof in Robert’s office but the question is posed: who is the real author of this brilliant work? Catherine struggles to solve this as well the most perplexing problem of all: how much of her father’s madness—or genius—has she inherited?
Proof originally premiered off-Broadway in 2000 before transferring to the Walter Kerr Theatre. The production starred Mary-Louise Parker, Larry Bryggman, Johanna Day and Ben Shenkman. Proof earned three Tony Awards, including Best Play and Best Actress in a Play (Parker).
Proof will feature set design by Helen Goddard and lighting design by Paul Anderson.
