With her new Oscar win, recording artist Adele is halfway on her way to becoming an EGOT (that’s an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony winner). But don’t count on the British musician stepping onto a Broadway stage anytime soon—or at least not for a musical.
After taking the trophy for Best Song for “Skyfall,” Adele tackled the Oscars press room where she was asked how she’ll go after her Emmy and Tony. “I don’t know, maybe I’ll do an HBO special like Beyonce did,” laughed the singer. “And then a Tony, I’m not so sure. Like maybe one day, someone might want to do a musical. Oh no, it’s not really my kind of thing, a musical. No offense.”
Sure, starring in Anything Goes may not be Adele’s cup of Earl Grey, but that doesn’t mean that this award-winning songbird won’t find her music on Broadway or the West End in the future. Some of Tony’s favorite winners are behind the music, and maybe that's exactly where we'll see Adele when she comes to scoop up her trophy. Don't count out Broadway just yet, Adele!
