HBO Sets Premiere Date for Second Season of The Newsroom

'The Newsroom' returns beginning July 14.

A premiere date for the second season of HBO’s drama The Newsroom has been officially set for July 14. Created by Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom chronicles the inner workings of a fictional cable news program while utilizing real news events to be hypothetically addressed.

The first season of the news-based series tackled several real life news events, including the assassination of Osama bin Laden. The second season will continue to reference relevant news stories as well as a new storyline. This season will see “the staff of 'News Night' chase a mysterious tip, which leads to a story that ultimately spins out of control”.

The Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer as well as several stage veterans including John Gallagher Jr., Thomas Sadoski and Alison Pill.
