The cast has been announced for 'Disney's The Little Mermaid.'

The cast has been announced for Paper Mill Playhouse's American premiere of a new Disney production of The Little Mermaid. Directed by Glenn Casale, the musical will begin performances May 29, with an official opening set for June 2.

Disney's The Little Mermaid will star Broadway favorite Nick Adams as Prince Eric, Jessica Grové as Ariel, Liz McCartney as Ursula, Alan Mingo, Jr. as Sebastian and Edward Watts as King Triton.

Based on the 1989 Disney animated film and Hans Christian Andersen tale of the same name, The Little Mermaid tells the story of the beautiful young mermaid Ariel, who longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. The musical features an entirely new structure and script by Tony Award-winning playwright Doug Wright, as well as beloved songs by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, including "Part of Your World," "Kiss the Girl" and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea" along with new songs by Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater.

Adams starred on Broadway as Adam/Felicia in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, for which he won two Audience Choice Awards. His other Main Stem credits include A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, La Cage aux Folles and The Pirate Queen.

Grové's Broadway credits include A Little Night Music, Sunday in the Park with George, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Les Miserables. She appeared as Dorothy in Madison Square Garden's The Wizard of Oz.

Disney's The Little Mermaid will feature new choreography by John MacInnis, flying sequence choreography by Paul Rubin, music direction by Craig Barna, scenic design by Kenneth Foy, costume design by Amy Clark and Mark Koss, lighting design by Charlie Morrison, sound design by Randy Hansen and hair and wig design by Leah J. Loukas.
