Tracey Ullman may play Jack's Mother in 'Into the Woods.'

Seven-time Emmy-winning comedian Tracey Ullman is in talks to join Disney’s Into the Woods as Jack’s Mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ullman would join a cast that includes Emily Blunt as the Baker’s Wife and Meryl Streep as the Witch. The role of Ullman’s beanstalk-climbing son has not been cast.

A reimagining of classic fairy tales, Into the Woods tells the story of the Baker and his wife (Blunt), who make a deal with an evil witch (Streep) in order to conceive. Their journey into the woods brings the couple face-to-face with a bevy of fairy tale characters, including Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and Jack and his magical beans.

Ullman’s memorable film credits include Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Bullets Over Broadway, Small Time Crooks, Corpse Bride and Household Saints. Her TV series The Tracey Ullman Show ran on FOX from 1987 to 1990 and won three Emmy Awards. It also debuted a cartoon short that would eventually become The Simpsons. Ullman’s next series Tracey Takes On… ran on HBO from 1996-1999, winning six Emmy Awards.

Directed by Rob Marshall, the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s 1986 musical Into the Woods is rumored to begin filming in early 2014.
