Theater stars know what’s hot in entertainment, fashion and pop culture, so Broadway.com decided it was high time to tap in to the after-hours obsessions of our favorite stage actors. When he's not busy searching for his "Corner of the Sky" as the title role in the Tony-winning revival of Pippin, Matthew James Thomas is busy watching Family Guy, shopping at thrift stores and listening to Coldplay! Read below for more of Thomas' offstage obsessions.
"I won't be the first to say this, but Family Guy. I desperately want Seth MacFarlane to come and see Pippin and do an episode on it. And Breaking Bad because it's insane and brilliant."
MOVIE: Iron Man
"I want to be him!"
STAGE SHOW (OTHER THAN MY OWN): Matilda
"Bertie Carvel and those kids are incredible and the production is so well put together. I want to see it again!"
SONG OR SINGER
"'Spotlight' by Mutemath—it can't seem to get old with me (none of their songs do); 'Yellow' and "The Scientist" by Coldplay; 'Nessun Dorma' performed by Pavarotti. I also really like Irish folk music, like jigs and such."
BOOK: Illusions by Richard Bach
"One of the best gifts ever given to me."
"I admire athletes, but I can't say I'm obsessed with anyone or anything in particular."
CELEBRITY: Jeremy Clarkson
"He hosts the TV show Top Gear in the U.K."
"All over the world! I love visiting home [England]. I've always wanted to go to Saint Lucia. My drama coach in England had a Saint Lucia poster on his wall and I always used to stare at it. Who knows...maybe one day I'll make it there."
"GuitarToolkit and TurboScan!! Ha!"
"I'm not nearly cool enough to know fashion designers' names. I shop at AllSaints, thrift stores, American Apparel, Jack Wills and whatever catches my eye."
BEAUTY PRODUCT: Proactiv
"Thank you for saving my skin!"
"String arrangements and film scores, building lamps from random pieces of wood, sanding floors and climbing poles."
