Is there anything better than an opening night? We imagine that the answer from Tony and Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater would be “No!” as she looked like she was on top of the world on opening night of her off-Broadway play with music Lady Day. Bridgewater headlines as legendary singer Billie Holiday in the Stephen Stahl-created show, which also stars David Ayers, Rafael Poueriet and a host of veteran musicians lending their talents to bring Holiday’s iconic music to life on stage. The audience ate up the musical night at the theater, and the cast looked thrilled to be celebrating a swanky opening night with their family and friends.
