Casting announced for Sheffield Theatres' production of Lionel Bart's 'Oliver!'

Watch your pockets! Tony nominee Tom Edden is set to star as Fagin for Sheffield Theatres' production of Lionel Bart's Oliver!. Directed by Sheffield Artistic Director Daniel Evans, the musical will play a limited engagement at the U.K. venue from November 29 through January 25, 2014, with opening night set for December 16.

In addition to Edden, who was Tony-nominated for One Man, Two Guvnors on Broadway, the show will also star Hayley Gallivan as Nancy and Ben Richards as Bill Sikes. Samual Bailey and Jack Skilbeck-Dunn will share the title role of Oliver Twist, with Jack Armstrong and Travis Caddy alternating as the Artful Dodger. All four boys were selected from open auditions held at Sheffield Theatres. Other cast members include David Mara, David Phipps-Davis, Andrew Bryant, Emilie Fleming, Bob Harms, Rebecca Lock, Myra McFadyen, Rachel Moran, Liza Sadovy and Chris Vincent.

With book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Oliver! is based on the novel by Charles Dickens. It tells the tale of an orphan who runs away from a workhouse and falls in with a gang of boys trained to be pickpockets by their leader, Fagin. The show was first seen on Broadway in 1963, where it garnered 10 Tony nominations, winning three.

The production will feature design by Peter McKintosh, choreography by Alistair David, lighting by Howard Harrison and sound by Simon Baker.
