NBC Orders 12 Episodes of Tony Winner Andrea Martin's Canadian Comedy Series Working the Engels

NBC gives a 12-episode order to Andrea Martin's new sitcom 'Working the Engels.'

The Peacock network has ordered up 12 episodes of the new Toronto-set comedy Working the Engels in its first collaboration with a Canadian partner. The previously announced series will star Pippin Tony winner Andrea Martin. According to Deadline.com, NBC will co-produce the series with Shaw Media/Noreen Halpern’s Halfire-CORE Entertainment.

Created and written by Katie Ford and Jane Ford, Working the Engels focuses on a family who come together when their father passes away, leaving them a mountain of debt. They band together to take over their father’s law firm, even though only one family member—daughter Jenna—is around to practice law. Martin will play Ceil, the overly confident family matriarch. Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Azura Skye (American Horror Story) and Benjamin Arthur (Less Than Kind) will also star..

Martin won a second Tony Award for My Favorite Year and garnered additional nominations for Candide and Oklahoma! Her notable film and TV credits include SCTV, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Wag the Dog and The Producers.
