Always true to you in his fashion! Fashionista and reality TV personality Izaac Mizrahi has been narrating the presentation of children’s fable Peter and the Wolf at the Guggenheim Museum for the holidays since 2007, but according to the New York Times, the fashion maven is putting on multiple hats for this year's event. Mizrahi will be helming along with designing the set and costumes for this new interactive theatrical production of the traditionally solely orchestrated tale.
Lead by former Mark Morris dancer John Heginbotham as choreographer, the cast features Gus Solomons Jr. as Grandfather, Maira Kalman as the duck, Macy Sullivan as Peter, Julie Cunningham as the bird, Lindsey Jones as the cat and Derrick Arthur as the clueless hunter. George Manahan will continue his yearly role conducting the Juilliard Ensemble to underscore the production.
Heginbotham told the Times, “Each performer is getting his own specific dance vocabulary…The bird is a ballerina. Peter’s movements are a little more contemporary. The cat has a sort of Bob Fosse, slinky, sexy vocabulary.”
Mizrahi made his directing debut in 2010 with a production of A Little Night Music at the Opera Theater of St. Louis, for which he also designed the costumes and set.
