Twelve blocks north of the New Amsterdam Theatre, where Aladdin has landed on Broadway, the super-talented folks from StarKid had their own Arabian tale to tell at 54 Below on March 17. For two sold-out performances, Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier dared to shed new light on Aladdin baddie Jafar with big laughs, catchy songs and even a touching romance that didn't take flight on a magic carpet (actually, Aladdin is a sleazeball in this show who only uses that iconic carpet ride to get Jasmine outta her harem pants). StarKid founder Darren Criss, of Glee fame, was on hand to cheer on the talented cast. Hey Darren, more StarKid at 54 Below, please! We had a blast.
