He’s gone from screen actor to writer, and now he’s playing a writer on screen! Glee’s Chris Colfer is set to play Noel Coward in an upcoming biopic about the iconic British playwright, composer and director. According to ScreenDaily, Tony winners Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave and Jonathan Pryce are also in talks to join the Martin Sherman-penned film. Joe Stephenson will direct.
The movie, tentatively titled Noel, will follow the early life of Coward, whose plays include Private Lives, Present Laughter, Blithe Spirit and Relative Values.
In addition to Glee, Colfer wrote and starred in the film Struck by Lightning. He has also penned the The Land of Stories children’s book series; the third installment of which is set to release this summer.
