What does the American dream taste like? Popcorn and Sno-Caps. The premiere date is now set for the previously announced screening of Of Mice and Men. The Anna D. Shapiro-helmed production will air in movie theaters across the U.S. and Canada on November 6 as part of the U.K.’s National Theatre Live program. The Broadway revival, which starred James Franco, Chris O’Dowd, Leighton Meester and Jim Norton, was filmed during its final weeks of performances at the Longacre Theatre earlier this year. Additional screening dates will be announced later.
John Steinbeck’s play tells the story of two migrant workers: George (Franco), a sharp but uneducated, short-tempered man, and Lennie (O'Dowd), a large but simple-minded man. Together they hope to one day acquire their own piece of land. But when Lennie stirs up trouble on the job, George must choose between protecting his friend or continuing to strive for the American dream.
Of Mice and Men began performances on March 19 and played its final performance on July 27. Additional cast members included Ron Cephas Jones, Alex Morf, Joel Marsh Garland, James McMenamin, Jim Ortlieb and Jim Parrack.
