Tamzin Outhwaite, along with Olivier winners Samantha Spiro and Jenna Russell, will star in the West End transfer of Amelia Bullmore’s Di and Viv and Rose. Directed by Anna Mackmin, the comedy will play at London’s Vaudeville Theatre. Performances will begin on January 22, 2015, with opening night set for January 29.
The play originally ran at the Hampstead Theatre starring Outhwaite, who will reprise her role as Di until March 28. She s currently appearing on the London stage in Breeders. Additional theater credits include Sweet Charity, Boeing Boeing, Breathing Corpses, Flesh Wound and Oliver. Her screen credits include New Tricks, Red Cap, Doctor Who, Foyle’s War, Silent Witness, Law and Order UK, The Fixer, Hotel Babylon, Hustle, EastEnders, Cassandra’s Dream and Great Expectations.
Spiro will play Viv. She won the Olivier for her performances in Hello Dolly and Merrily We Roll Along. Other theater credits include Kafka’s Dick, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, Filumena and Chicken Soup with Barley. Screen credits include Bad Education, Cold Feet and Tomorrow La Scala.
Russell will play Rose. She received an Oliver award and also a Tony nod for the London and Broadway productions of Sunday in the Park with George. Other stage credits include Mr Burns, Urinetown (which she will also star in the upcoming West End transfer of), Merrily We Roll Along and Guys and Dolls. TV credits include Call the Midwife and Holby City.
