October 31 may have been Halloween, but did you know that it was also National Magic Day? So while we were stuffing our faces with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, we were also thinking back on our favorite magical moments on the Great White Way. We wanted to know: Through all the dry ice, all the glitter and all the lighting cues, which Broadway special effect is the most magical of them all? The votes are in, and here's what you had to say!
1. "Defying Gravity," Wicked—35%
There is nothing more magical than getting painted green, rising up through a lifetime supply of fog on a giant contraption, and belting an F. Or so we imagine. Not that we try to recreate that moment in our apartments or anything.
2. "It's Possible" Transformation, Cinderella—31%
Who says it’s impossible for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage? And if you twirl around enough, some basic rags are easily turned to a William Ivey Long masterpiece. He is truly a sorcerer with a sewing machine.
3. The Magic Carpet, Aladdin—11%
Mickey still won’t tell us how that carpet works! Something about wires and…an invisibility cloak? We’re still waiting for our turn on that thing. We gave you t-shirts, guys. What more do you we have to do?!
