London’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will close on March 7, 2015 at the Savoy Theatre, which will then play host to the previously reported West End transfer of Gypsy from March 28. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the production opened in the West End in February 2014.
The musical is based on the 1988 film starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin, helmed by Frank Oz. It is the UK premiere of this new production, which has been re-imagined for the UK stage, and has music and lyrics by David Yazbek with a book by Jeffrey Lane. The comedy follows two conmen competing for the riches and the heart of a young impressionable heiress.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels currently stars Tony winner Robert Lindsay as the French Riviera’s chief conman, Lawrence Jameson, alongside Bonnie Langford as Muriel Eubanks, Ben Fox as Andre Thibault, Katherine Kingsley as Christine Colgate and Alex Gaumond as Freddy Benson.
