Plenty of New York City maggots enjoyed their mid-winter recess from school this past week, and shows that catch the eye of younger theatergoers celebrated box office bumps. Among those were Matilda, which has celebrated a considerable boost over the past two weeks and just exceeded capacity for the first time since the new year. Aladdin, Wicked and The Lion King also saw increases in gross and capacity of varying magnitudes; the three made appearances in the top five grossing shows along with perennial hit The Book of Mormon (decidedly less kid-appropriate) and the newcomer Fish in the Dark. Meanwhile, the Bradley Cooper-led The Elephant Man played its final performance on February 21 before the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner was whisked away to Hollywood for the Oscars, celebrating its third consecutive week of a capacity of over 100% at the Booth Theatre. The Great White Way transfer of Hand to God begins in the space on March 14. The revival of You Can't Take It With You also closed its limited run, making room for Living On Love.
