Jim Parsons took on the Almighty for the final time on August 3 as An Act of God concluded its run at Studio 54. But the show had reason to celebrate before ascending to the Heaviside Layer (which is where we assume cats and Broadway shows go once they’re no longer with us.) The comedy hit its highest-grossing week at $1,074,778, making it one of 13 shows to reach seven figures this week and one of six to exceed capacity. Leading the box office were four usual suspects and one exceptionally in-demand show still in previews: The Lion King, Wicked, Aladdin, which broke the New Amsterdam Theatre house record for the seventh time, Hamilton (set to open officially on August 6) and The Book of Mormon.
