Spring Awakening Movie Still in the Works
For those of you who fell in love with Spring Awakening all over again with Deaf West's recent revival, believe! The movie adaptation of the Tony-winning tuner, which has been in development for years, is still in the works. “Tom Hanks' company, Playtone, has been helping to shepherd it along,” the musical's composer Duncan Sheik told AOL Build. “We just need to find the right ingredients and really, the director, at this point.” Sheik also revealed that his upcoming projects include Secret Life of Bees with playwright Lynn Nottage and director Sam Gold, as well as a new version of Alice in Wonderland, for which he’s reunited with Spring Awakening wordsmith Steven Sater and director John Doyle. His American Psycho, headlined by the flawless Benjamin Walker, is playing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

Nicholas Barasch to Receive Dorothy Loudon Award
News to write home about for Broadway newcomer Nicholas Barasch, who is currently appearing in the Main Stem revival of She Loves Me at Studio 54. He will receive the 8th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award, which honors an outstanding performance in a Broadway or off-Broadway production, at the 72nd Annual Theatre World Awards ceremony. The event is scheduled to take place on May 23 at Circle in the Square Theatre, home of the Tony-winning Fun Home. The 2016 Theatre World winners will be announced shortly.

Barbara Cook's Debut Solo Album to Premiere on CD
Sad you didn’t get to see Barbara Cook at New World Stages this spring?
