Baking is the last thing on our minds during this heat wave, but don’t tell that to Waitress. The new musical grossed $990,128, or 97.12% of its potential. Its Millionaire’s Club status varies week-by-week, but continuous strong numbers indicate the show will sweeten up Broadway as we enter the fall season. All five perennial box office frontrunners—The Lion King, Hamilton, Wicked, Aladdin and The Book of Mormon—faced slumps compared to last week (Wicked played one less performance). The revival of Les Miserables enters its final two weeks of performances, and it looks like it’ll end on a high note; at $1,035,397, the production surpassed seven figures for the second consecutive week and inched closer to hitting 100% capacity.
