The Administration Committee of the Tony Awards has announced the Tony Award Nominating Committee for the 2004-2005 Broadway season. Incoming committee members are Theatre Development Fund Executive Director Victoria Bailey, lyricist Susan Birkenhead, scenic designer Edward Burbridge, Theatre Communications Group Executive Director Ben Cameron, director/choreographer Mercedes Ellington, playwright David Henry Hwang, actress Dana Ivey, producer Jon Nakagawa, general manager Peter Neufeld, composer Marc Shaiman and television producer Jac Venza who is executive producer of Thirteen/WNET New York's Great Performances series.
These new committee members join general manager Ira Bernstein, actor Stephen Bogardus, cultural executive Schuyler G. Chapin, musical-theater writer Kirsten Childs, arts-library executive and booking agent Jacqueline Z. Davis, press representative Merle Debuskey, managing director Edgar Dobie, composer Nancy Ford, casting director Julie Hughes, casting director Geoffrey Johnson, playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, journalist Enid Nemy, casting director Shirley Rich, press representative Bill Schelble and journalist William Tynan. Each new nominator will serve three-year terms on the committee.
Nominating Committee members Maureen Anderman, Veronica Claypool, Betty Corwin, Gretchen Cryer, Micki Grant, David Marshall Grant, Betty Jacobs, Gilbert Parker, Judith O. Rubin, Rosemarie Tichler and Jon Wilner have vacated their positions to make room for the new members.
Members of the Nominating Committee attend all Broadway productions and determine the Tony Award nominations for that season.
