Therriault notably starred as Leo Bloom in the Toronto mounting of The Producers. He appeared at New York's City Center in mountings of The Miser and Much Ado About Nothing. A veteran of the Stratford Festival, his credits there include Quiet in the Land, Pericles, Henry VI, Richard III, The Seagull, Two Noble Kinsmen, Henry V, As You Like It, Julius Caesar, The Taming of the Shrew and Fiddler on the Roof. His other theatrical credits include Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, West Side Story, The Philadelphia Story, Cabaret, The World Goes 'Round, The Birds, Treasure Island and Oliver!. Therriault is currently filming the Canadian television movie The Tommy Douglas Story, in which he plays the title role.
Smith began performances as Motel on March 22, but he was only contracted through mid-May. He will return to Hairspray when his time at Fiddler on the Roof is over.
Fiddler on the Roof currently stars Harvey Fierstein, Andrea Martin, Nancy Opel, Sally Murphy, Laura Shoop and Tricia Paoluccio.
