About the Show

Even though its current home, the Douglas Fairbanks Theatre, is being torn down, Forbidden Broadway will live on. The long-running musical will play its last performance at the Fairbanks on May 29 and its first show at its new home, the 47th Street Theatre, on June 20.

The Douglas Fairbanks Theatre is the production's fourth New York home--it previously ran at Palsson's Supper Club, Theater East and Ellen's Stardust Diner. The show was created and written by Gerard Alessandrini and is directed by Alessandrini and Phillip George.

The tuner's latest incarnation, Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit opened at the Fairbanks on December 16, 2004. It pokes fun at Broadway shows including Wicked, Avenue Q, Movin' Out, All Shook Up, Good Vibrations, La Cage aux Follies, Assassins, Mamma Mia and Bombay Dreams. There will also soon be a season wrap-up with new jabs at Spamalot, Christina Applegate in Sweet Charity and Robert Goulet in La Cage aux Folles.

Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit features costumes by Tony Award winner Alvin Colt, sets by Megan K. Halpern and lighting by Marc Janowitz.
