Tryst tells the story of how George Love, a handsome conman who woos loved-starved women, meets Adelaide Pinchon, a desperate woman, who dreams beyond her mundane world at the local millinery store. Mr. Love has a history of illicit affairs, but after meeting the fantasizing shop-girl, there is a twist of fate. The press materials for Tryst include a "warning" of onstage nudity in the production.
Campbell earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway play Our Country's Good and was also seen on the Great White Way in The Herbal Bed, Translations and A Small Family Business. Off-Broadway credits include The Exonerated and Love, Janis.
An earlier version of Tryst was seen on the London stage in 1997 with the title The Mysterious Mr. Love. The off-Broadway staging is set to start performances on March 21 and open on April 6.
