About the Show

Charles Busch's comedy-thriller Die Mommie Die! has announced a closing date of January 13, 2008, at New York Stages. The limited run of the play, which opened off-Broadway on October 21, had been scheduled to end on February 17. Upon closing, Die Mommie Die! will have played 12 previews and 97 regular performances, directed by Carl Andress.

Steeped in the glamour of 1960s Hollywood, Die Mommie Die! stars playwright Busch as Angela Arden, a fallen pop diva trapped in a hateful marriage to film producer Sol Sussman Bob Ari. Desperate to find happiness with her younger lover, an out-of-work TV actor named Tony Parker Chris Hoch, Angela gruesomely murders her husband with the aid of a poisoned suppository. Angela's manipulative daughter, Edith Ashley Morris, convinces her "emotionally disturbed" brother, Lance Van Hansis, that together they must avenge their father's death —by killing their mother! Kristine Nielsen rounds out the cast as the Sussmans' live-in maid, Bootsie Carp.

Die Mommie Die! is produced by Daryl Roth and Bob Boyett, in association with Elyse Pasquale and Tim Levy.
