The Fantasticks to Close Off-Broadway Feb. 24

The Off-Broadway musical revival of The Fantasticks will play its final performance on February 24 at the Snapple Theatre Center's Jerry Orbach Theater. The current production will have played have played 27 previews and 628 regular performances, directed by the show's co-creator, Tom Jones.

A classic coming-of-age story, The Fantasticks tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers. The musical love story, written by Jones and Harvey Schmidt, originally opened at New York's Sullivan Street Playhouse on May 3, 1960, and played 17,162 performances before closing on January 13, 2002, making it the world's longest running musical. The current off-Broadway opened on August 23, 2006, as the inaugural production of the new Snapple Theatre Center.

The Fantasticks stars Julie Craig as Luisa, John Deyle as Hucklebee, Burke Moses as El Gallo, Jordan Nichols as The Mute, Robert R. Oliver as Mortimer, Nick Spangler as Matt, William Tost as Henry and Martin Vidnovic as Bellomy. The cast also features Tom Flagg, Stuart Marland and Liz Holtan.
