Aaron Tveit has stepped into the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway company of Hairspray, a production spokesperson confirmed. Angel, the pop star who joined the show in January 2007, is out for an unspecified medical leave. He will return to the show later in the month.
Tveit, a Broadway.com Fresh Face for his co-starring role in recent off-Broadway production of Next to Normal at Second Stage, played Link on Broadway just before Angel and on the national tour of Hairspray. He will play Dean in Playwrights Horizons' world-premiere of the new musical Saved, which begins previews May 9. Tveit toured in Rent and starred in a regional production of The Three Musketeers.
