Sony Pictures has announced that it will film the much anticipated final performance of Broadway's long-running musical hit Rent on September 7 as part of its new series, The Hot Ticket. The series, which caters to music, theater and sports fans, aims to bring major performance events to the big screen by documenting live and sold-out concerts, theatrical productions and sporting events for high definition projection in select movie theaters around the country.

The closing night of Rent, which is ending its landmark 12-year run at the Nederlander Theatre, is predicted to be one of the biggest theatrical events of the year, drawing original cast members, Broadway stars and countless show supporters for farewell festivities and the inevitable final bows.

Hot Ticket has also announced plans to film the upcoming Cirque du Soleil production Delirium, a live music, dance and acrobatics event which closes its multi-year tour at London's O2 Arena in August.
