Mamma Mia! alum Carey Anderson will join the cast of Avenue Q on July 8, replacing Sarah Stiles. Armed with puppets, Anderson will play the leading roles of Kate Monster and Lucy T. Slut as the Tony Award-winning musical enters its sixth year at the Golden Theatre.
Anderson comes to Avenue Q after playing Sophie in Mamma Mia! on Broadway and on tour. Her other New York credits include the Musicals Tonight! productions of The Girlfriend and My Favorite Year, and Abbey Victoria at the Lark Theatre.
Avenue Q is the winner of three 2004 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. A tale about twenty-something puppets fresh out of college who move to New York City with big dreams and tiny bank accounts, the musical recently celebrated its 2,000th performance.
Anderson joins a Broadway company that includes Christian Anderson Nicky, Trekkie Monster, Bear and others, Jennifer Barnhart Mrs. T., Bear and others, Nicholas Kohn Brian, Carla Renata Gary Coleman, Ann Sanders Christmas Eve and Howie Michael Smith Princeton and Rod.
