American Idol season three finalist Diana DeGarmo will join previously announced star Gavin Creel in the upcoming Broadway revival of Godspell, set begin previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on September 29. Directed by Broadway newcomer Daniel Goldstein, the musical will open on October 23.
In addition to Creel, who will play Jesus, and DeGarmo Hairspray, Godspell will feature Uzo Aduba Coram Boy, Andrew Arrington, Sara Chase, Celisse Henderson, Joshua Henry (In the Heights) as Judas, Morgan James, David Josefberg (The Wedding Singer, Altar Boyz), Telly Leung (Rent, Pacific Overtures), Kyle Post (Rent), Dana Steingold, Maria Thayer (Necessary Targets) and Daniel Torres (The Woman in White, The Pirate Queen).
Goldstein is reuniting the creative team that imagined the show for its successful 2006 run at Paper Mill Playhouse: feature scenic design by David Korins Passing Strange, costumes by Miranda Hoffman Well, lighting by Ben Stanton Altar Boyz and sound by Mike Farfalla Curtains, as well as choreography by 2008 Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli South Pacific.
The Broadway revival of Godspell is being produced by Adam Epstein, Broadway Across America, Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley.
