Christy Carlson Romano Headed for Broadway's Avenue Q

Emmy nominee Christy Carlson Romano will join the Broadway cast of Avenue Q for an eight-week run beginning September 29. Romano is set to play the dual roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut through November 23 at the Golden Theatre, replacing Carey Anderson.

Romano's Broadway credits include Beauty and the Beast as Belle, Parade, The Sound of Music and The Will Rogers Follies. She received an Emmy nomination for her performance as the title character on the Disney Channel's animated series Kim Possible and has played starring roles in the ABC Family series The Cutting Edge 2, The Cutting Edge 3 and Campus Confidential and in the Disney Channel's Cadet Kelly and Even Stevens with Shia LeBeouf. Her films include Everyone Says I Love You directed by Woody Allen and Henry Fool directed by Hal Hartley. A solo recording artist and author, she wrote the book Grace's Turn Hyperion, named "Teenage Book of the Year" by the New York Public Library in 2007.

Avenue Q, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary on Broadway, tells the tuneful and funny story of 20-somethings who move to the city with big dreams and tiny bank accounts. The current Broadway cast includes Christian Anderson, Jennifer Barnhart, Nicholas Kohn, Carla Renata, Ann Sanders and Howie Michael Smith.
