2008 Ovation Award Winners Announced

2008 Ovation Award Winners Announced
Nilaja Sun in No Child...

The winners of the 2008 Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Awards were announced November 17 in a ceremony hosted by stage and screen veteran Neil Patrick Harris at LA’s Harriet and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex. Broadway alums John Glover The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Laurie Metcalf November and Gwen Stewart Rent, among others, were all honored for their performances in various West Coast productions.

The annual Ovations, which honor achievements in California theater, classify awards according to the size of eligible theaters.

The Civic Light Opera’s production of Miss Saigon, a heavy favorite to clean up with 11 nominations, took home four awards total, including Best Musical in a Large Theater. Close behind were Cabrillo Musical Theatre’s productions of Jekyll & Hyde and Singin’ in the Rain, which received three awards each, and the Geffen Playhouse’s production of The Quality of Life.
