Freeman & Ashmanskas to Join The Producers

Jonathan Freeman and Brooks Ashmanskas will join the cast of The Producers on August 31 as Roger DeBris and Carmen Ghia, respectively. Current stars Gary Beach who won a Tony for his performance in the musical and Brad Musgrove will both depart the musical on August 29 to begin rehearsals for La Cage aux Folles.

Ken Mandelbaum mentioned Freeman for The Producers earlier today. Freeman received a Tony nomination for his work in She Loves Me. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Platinum, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, On the Town and 42nd Street. His off-Broadway credits include A Class Act, Sail Away, In a Pig's Valise, the Encores! mounting of Li'l Abner and Finian's Rainbow.

Ashmanskas was most recently featured in Gypsy. He also appeared on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Dream and Little Me. His off-Broadway credits include London Suite, Songs for a New World, Labor Day and Imperfect Chemistry.

The Producers will continue to star Brad Oscar, Hunter Foster, Angie Schworer and John Treacy Egan.
