Kendra Kassebaum and Teal Wicks will play Glinda and Elphaba in the forthcoming San Francisco engagement of Wicked, along with Broadway company vets Carol Kane as Madame Morrible and David Garrison as the Wizard. The open-ended run will begin performances on January 27, 2009, at the Orpheum Theatre.

In addition to Wicked, Kassebaum’s Broadway credits include Assassins and Rent, and she appeared off-Broadway last season in The Receptionist. Wicks appeared in the L.A. company of Wicked, in Pippin at the Goodspeed Opera House and in the Encores! presentation of Stairway to Paradise. Further casting for the San Francisco engagement will be announced shortly.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed by Joe Mantello The smash-hit musical had its world premiere in San Francisco in 2003 before moving to Broadway.
