Brandon Victor Dixon originated the role of Simba in the national tour of The Lion King before making his Broadway debut in The Color Purple, earning a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. In 2013 he originated the role of Berry Gordy, Jr., in Motown: The Musical. His off-Broadway credits include Rent and The Scottsboro Boys.
